PRESENT INDEFINTE TENSE PART-3

MOST IMPORTANT POINTS
1.               Present indefinite tense is used to show regular action.
Example
Ø I go to office daily.
Ø My mother gets up at 5 a.m. daily.
Ø We go for a walk daily at 5 o'clock

2.           It is used to show/express habitual work.
Example
Ø We go to the cinema on every Sunday.
Ø I study late night every day.
Ø my uncle drinks daily.

3.           It is used to show universal truth/eternal truth.
Example
Ø The earth revolves round the sun.
Ø Birds fly
Ø water ails at 100º

4.           The frequency showing adverbs like as.Daily, everyday, per-day, always, after noon, seldom, once a year, once a month, once a week, twice a day, twice a month, twice a week, on Sundays, on Mondays, occasionally, rarely, sometimes, usually, every week, every year, every month, generally. Etc.
Example
Ø Sheela never tells a lie.
Ø They go to temple on Sundays.
Ø Mohan always comes home late.



5.              To show planned future action with present indefinite tense.
Example
Ø College opens in the month of July.
Ø  I leave too Delhi tomorrow. 
Ø Sunil comes at 7pm today.

6.              It is used to in place of future indefinite tense in the clause of conditional sentences. In other words we can say. The sentence which starts with conditional conjunction as. If when every, unless, as soon as, till, until, even if, in case etc.
Example-
Ø Whenever it rains, the roof leaks.
Ø If you invite me, I shall come in your party.
Ø We shall not play if it rains.
Ø They will wait until you finish your work.

7.              The verbs (voluntary /non-action, normally) which occur in a very short moments are used in simple present tense not Present continuous. Because these verbs are generally not occur in very short moments.Like as- smell, know, love, hot, see, hear, smell, notice, look, seem, resemble, appear, want, desire, like, refuse, wish, hope, doubt, loathe, mind, act, care, detest, adore, abhor, admire, expect, suppose, belong, have, has, own, possess, contain, trust, forget know, understand realise, recollect, perceive, trust, remember etc.
Example-
       Ø I am knowing you very well.      (false)
       Ø I know you very well.                 (true)
       Ø They are leaving a car.               (false)
       Ø They have a car.                         (true)
       Ø He is owing a car.                       (false)
       Ø He owns a car.                            (true)
